Two Songs

These two songs have really blessed me in the the last two days. The Crowder song came on K-LOVE as I was driving back to work after lunch on Tuesday. I had not heard it before and the words seemed meant for me at that moment. The Groves song is one that I know well. I always listen to music on my MP3 player in the morning and this morning was no different. Yesterday I listened to Caedmon's Call and I assumed that is what would play when I turned on my iPod. However the Sara Groves song, "I Just Showed Up For My Own Life" immediately started playing when I pressed the "Power" button. There is no earthly reason why this should have been queued up to play, so I can only assume it was a God thing.

Thanks, God for loving me enough to break through the monotony of the everyday mundane and the noise of my fears to bring me a little piece of you!

How He Loves
By David Crowder

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.

Just Showed Up For My Own Life
By Sara Groves

Spending my time sleep walking
Moving my mouth but not saying a thing
Hoping the changes would take by working their way from the outside in
I was in love with an idea
Preoccupied with how a life should appear
Spending my time at the surface repairing the holes in the shiny veneer

There are so many ways to hide
There are so many ways not to feel
There are so many ways to deny what is real

And I just showed up for my own life
And I'm standing here taking it in and it sure looks bright

I'm going to live my life inspired
Look for the holy in the common place
Open the windows and feel all that's honest and real until I'm truly amazed
I'm going to feel all my emotions
I'm going to look you in the eyes
I'm going to listen and hear until it's finally clear and it changes our lives

There are so many ways to hide
There are so many ways not to feel
There are so many ways to deny what is real

And I just showed up for my own life
And I'm standing here taking it in and it sure looks bright

Oh the glory of God is man fully alive
Oh the glory of God is man fully alive

There are so many ways to hide
There are so many ways not to feel
There are so many ways to deny what is real

And I just showed up for my own life
And I'm standing here taking it in and it sure looks bright

I love Sara's words, "I just showed up for my own life!" WOW! That is a thought that can stay with a person all day. There are days when we don't feel like hanging around our own lives do we. But then God comes in a reminds us like Ezekiel that we are called, others might not listen but we do this because of God. We then take our lives to the marketplace and are often misunderstood. But again, God gives us our lives and we are called to respond. Beautiful song Carrie.

Best wishes to youtoday Carrie as you "show up for your life" today!!!! Whereever that sends you or no matter how it looks to the world!

Love,

Dad

Hey Carrie! The Crowder song is the first single of of their new album "Church Music". I don't know if you are generally a Crowder fan or not (I really enjoyed them as the worship band at UBC)but you can preorder their new album on their website: http://www.davidcrowderband.com/

OR - if you are so inclined, you can actually attend the CD release concert at UBC on Sept 21. (tickets avail here: https://www.davidcrowderband.com/shop/product.php?dept_id=03&product_group=TKT090921)
The tickets are $15 and include the CD, so basically its a free concert.
Jonathan Manz, Lyns and I went to the release party for "Remedy" and it was really fun.

OK, that's all. :) Tiff

Good stuff, Carrie. You know we share a mutual love for S.G.-- she's awesome.
Also- yeah, I always thought Keane would have looked good in that car! :)
Hope you are well, friend.
